We invite you to support our BBQ Sandwich Drive Thru on Wednesday, April 17. The meal consists of your choice of sandwich (tri-tip, chicken or linguica), fruit, chips and cookies ($15).

Donation tickets are also available to help us provide meals for We Care on April 17. $15 donation per meal.

A Hot Dog kids meal is also available for $10.

You won’t want to miss our annual Easter Egg hunt on the front lawn following our 9:30 am Easter service. We will have bags available to collect eggs or bring your own basket. Fellowship will also be provided on the front lawn.

Christ is Risen! We have a wonderful day of celebration planned for Easter morning. Please join us at 9:30 am in person or online. Our chancel and Bell Choirs will both be performing.

Good Friday Worship will be a meditative service reflecting on the final moments of Jesus’ life. Our Chancel Choir will perform. Worship with us in person or online at 6:30 pm.

Thursday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m. in Asbury Hall - We invite you to “Come to the Table” as we observe Holy Thursday at 6:30 pm in Asbury Hall (in person only). This will be an interactive service for the whole family including our Ignite Band. A soup and salad meal will be served. There is a seat at the Lord’s table for you!

After Worship Sunday in the Social Hall

Our youth groups invite you to enjoy a full pancake breakfast following worship. Breakfast is free to all, donations gladly accepted to help fund youth outings.

Palm Sunday
All children are invited to participate in the “Procession of the Palms”. The children will process down the center isle of the Sanctuary at the beginning of the 9:30 AM Worship Service waving palm branches as we remember Jesus triumphant entry into Jerusalem and the start of Holy Week. If your child would like to be involved please meet in the Florence Porter Room across from the Sanctuary by 10:20 AM. Our Nursery staff will be available to assist our smallest children.

Every year we do some spring cleaning to get our campus ready for Easter. If you have some time we would sure appreciate the help sprucing up the church.

Join us for Italian Night at FUMC on Saturday, February 24 from 5-7 pm in the Social Hall. Dinner of lasagna, bread, salad and green beans will be served at 5:30 pm by our SSP youth, who will accept tips for good service to help pay for their SSP trip this summer. You will also enjoy cheesecake for dessert. We will be delighted with music by our very own Darrell Tucker and Bev Luther!! We have 150 tickets available for a donation of $20 each. While they last, tickets will be available after church and in the office during regular office hours. If you might be available to help with some clean up, please sign up in the Narthex. We need some muscle to put away tables and chairs. 

Chef Scott Cooper will be selling tickets at church this Sunday.

Join us for an all church Birthday Bash! As we begin a new year we will celebrate all of our birthdays as we sit with others who share your birth month. If you would like to decorate a table sign up in the narthex. We invite all to come to this special potluck.

Our United Women of Faith host a holiday tea and boutique each year on the first Saturday in December. Mark your calendar for December 2. The Boutique will open at 1:00 pm as well as the Social Hall for table viewing. The program begins at 2:00 pm in the Sanctuary, with the tea immediately following. The cooler weather means Halloween is right around the corner.

We are excited to host our annual Trunk or Treat on Sunday, October 29 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm in the church’s parking lot. This is a free community event! Come and enjoy fun, games, popcorn and of course candy, as you walk through decorated cars! We will also have special music by our new Ignite Band. Come check it out! All are welcome!

Tickets are on sale for our Fall Harvest Dinner, Tuesday, October 3. Enjoy this special FUMC meal, complete with BBQ chicken, baked potato, seasonal melon, marinated tomatoes, dinner roll and cake for dessert! Tickets are available online https://auctria.events/fallharvest2023

A backpack is a child's constant companion as they go about their school days and our FUMC Family would like to bless them on Sunday, August 13, during Children's Time.

After the blessing, each child will be given a tag to attach to their backpack to remind them that God is with them in their daily life and that their church family will be praying for them throughout the year.

Teachers and educational staff, we also invite you to bring your backpack, tote bag, computer case, lunch box, etc for a special blessing to begin the school year.

Join us for a special day of worship and Jazz music on Sunday, July 9 at 9:30 AM, featuring the Turlock Jazz Collective. All are invited to enjoy this special day with a light brunch served on the front lawn after the service. Stay and hear more tunes from the band while you peruse the auction tables. Our auction will be online and active until 2:00 pm on July 9. Bring your friends and family to enjoy this fun day of music, auctions and fellowship.

WHY ASH WEDNESDAY?

Traditionally, the Christian church has observed the seven weeks before Easter as a time of repentance and spiritual self-examination. Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent, derives its name from the ancient practice of marking the foreheads of worshippers with ashes from the palm branches of the previous year. Ashes historically have had a dual significance. First, they are Old Testament symbols of sadness and humility. Job, amid all his troubles, cried out to God from the ash heap. The second symbolic meaning of ashes is as a reminder of our mortality. Each of us faces the inevitability of physical death. Our bodies and material possessions eventually will turn to dust and ashes. This is a reminder that we dare not trust in things that crumble. But Lent does not leave us on the ash heap. It begins with Ash Wednesday but ends with Easter. And Easter proclaims that, through Christ, God resurrects us from our dust and ashes, makes us new creatures, and brings life out of death!
